We have a massive focus on community and fundraising. We like to assist as much as we can and currently these are the causes we are involved with
Steps for Reid
Reid is a 4 year old little boy with Cerebral palsy.
Reids CP affects his legs causing very tight muscles and therefore his ability to move and walk normally. Reid was unable walk unassisted and has a lot of therapy to maintain and strengthen his muscles.
Public funding for this level of therapy is VERY limited. It is up to the family to make sure Reid gets as much support in this area as possible and this includes asking for your generosity to help fund this.
Reids family, community, friends and our Thames community fundraised over $100,000 to get Reid to St Louis children's hospital in the USA for life changing SDR surgery which removes the tightness permanently and enable Reid to have a better chance at normal movement in his life. Reid and his mum and dad went to St Louis in August and we are very grateful to everyones support
We are still raising funds for Reid's onging therapy
DediKATED To The One We Love
A local young woman has been diagnosed with cancer. Its aggressive and she has a big journey ahead of her to kick its butt.
Kate Coatsworth has had a huge impact on our community through her involvement with Thames Youth and always been there supporting causes around our town
Its now our turn to show her support
She moved to Sydney earlier this year where she was about to start her new adventures and was then given this diagnosis
We organised a fun run to show her our support in April 2019 and a huge number of people turned up, which goes to show how much this wahine means to us all. See Kate's Journey updates
Thames Coast Community Kindergarten Pohutukawa Ball
We are proud to be apart of this annual event by way of donating decor and furniture as well as being apart of the fundraising commitee at the Kindy.
This ball has been a huge success over the past 3 years raising over $30000 for the kindy to extend their building and put in a kitchen for the kids to learn through cooking. Watch this space for 2020 dates
Pohutukawa Coast Artisan Market
We are also involved with organising this local community orientated market aimed at showcasing local makers and creators. This is held monthly over the summer months and its a lovely afternoon/evening out on the coast.. Check out coolest market on the coast for our next dates and info on how to have a stall.
The Fitness Co-Op Annual Breast Cancer Breakfast
We are proud to help Fiona from The Fitness Co-Op with decorations for her Pink Ribbon Breakfast. She puts this one each year and all the funds going to breast cancer. Her event has grown each year and in 2018 we had to move to a bigger venue. It's a great community event
